How Much Does an AI Video Cost for a Business?

Published 6 min read

In short

Different products are sold as "AI video": a self-serve app costs a few dollars per video or a small monthly subscription, while a custom video ad produced with AI — with an idea, a script, voiceover, captions and your logo — costs more, because you're paying for the thinking and the execution. The price moves with who writes the idea, the length, the voiceover and language, the number of versions and the revision rounds. With us, one ready-to-post AI video costs $189 and three cost $459 — final prices.

Search for a minute and you'll find AI videos for a few dollars — and quotes in the thousands for a thirty-second video. That isn't necessarily because someone is overcharging; it's because completely different products are sold under the same name. Before you compare prices, it helps to understand exactly what you're buying.

Three different products with the same name

  • A self-serve app. You upload photos or type a sentence, and the system assembles a video by itself. Cheap and fast — and it looks like thousands of other videos made from the same template. Nobody is thinking about your audience or your message.
  • A custom video ad produced with AI. Someone writes a concept and a script for your specific business, produces the scenes, adds voiceover, captions and your logo, and delivers a file that's ready for your campaign. Here you're paying for the thinking and the execution — AI simply replaces the film crew.
  • A hybrid production or an ongoing series. Real footage combined with AI, a recurring character or narrator for your brand, or a series of videos every month. Priced by scope, usually as a package.

Most business owners searching for an "AI video" actually need the second option: an ad built around their business and designed to bring in enquiries. The self-serve app suits people who have time to experiment themselves and don't mind looking like everyone else.

What affects the price of an AI video?

  • Who writes the idea. The concept and the script decide whether a video stops the scroll. A quote that doesn't include them is cheaper only because the hard work stays with you.
  • Length. A 15–30 second ad is the standard on social media. Every extra second means more scenes to produce — and usually fewer people watching to the end.
  • Voiceover and language. Natural-sounding narration isn't a given with AI tools, especially outside English. A version in another language is extra work, not just translated captions.
  • Accuracy to the product. When the product has to look exactly like the real thing — packaging, label, color — it takes more precise work than a general scene.
  • Number of versions and formats. Vertical for Reels and Stories, square for the feed, or several different openings for the same video — each one is another file.
  • Revision rounds. How many are included, and what counts as a revision rather than a new video.
  • Turnaround time. A rush deadline almost always costs more.

What a quote must include

Whoever you order from, make sure these are in the quote before you pay:

  1. 1A script and a concept — and what happens if the idea doesn't work for you, before production starts.
  2. 2Captions. Much of the viewing in the feed starts with the sound off, and a video without captions loses everyone scrolling in silence.
  3. 3Your logo and business details in the video, so viewers know who you are.
  4. 4A format that fits the platform — on social media that's usually vertical, 9:16.
  5. 5A set number of revision rounds.
  6. 6Full commercial usage rights to the file: for paid ads, organic posts and your website.

The cost that isn't in the quote: distribution

A video is a tool, not a campaign. For anyone to see it, it has to be distributed — organically on social media, or in a paid campaign that also has an ad budget paid directly to the platform. Plan both together: a great video with no distribution budget reaches no one, and a big budget behind weak creative just buys expensive impressions. We break that part down in our guide to Facebook ad costs.

One video or three?

If the video is for a paid campaign, it's almost always better to start with several versions. The reason is simple: nobody — us included — knows in advance which opening will stop your audience. When several videos run side by side, within a few days you can see which one brings enquiries cheaply, and move the budget to it.

There's a second reason: a video that runs for weeks in front of the same audience wears out, and results drop. Extra versions extend the life of the campaign. Creative that doesn't stop the scroll is one of the most common reasons a campaign brings no leads.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make an AI video ad myself?

Yes. Self-serve AI video apps let you create a video from photos or a text prompt for a few dollars, or for a monthly subscription. The trade-off is time and originality: you write the idea and the script yourself, and the result often looks like other videos made from the same templates.

How long should a video ad be?

For social media ads, 15 to 30 seconds is the standard. The first three seconds matter most — that's where viewers decide whether to keep watching — so the hook belongs at the very start, with captions for people watching on mute.

How long does it take to produce an AI video?

Usually days rather than weeks, because there's no shoot to schedule. With us, a single video is delivered in 3–5 business days, and a pack of three is delivered in 5–9 business days.

Who owns an AI video made for my business?

That depends on the agreement, so check the quote: it should give you full commercial rights to the final video — for paid ads, organic posts and your website — with no extra fee per use. If it doesn't say so in writing, ask before you pay.
